Position: Development Coordinator Classification: Full time – exempt Department: Development Supervisor: Moderator of the Curia
Job Summary: Primary functions are to provide direction and coordination of the development of various programs to generate financial support for the Diocese of Brownsville and the local community it serves. Incumbent is expected to determine and coordinate the planning, resource development functions of the Diocese including short and long range forecasts of demographic characteristics for the programs to further the mission of the Diocese. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree in business administration or related field from an accredited institution
Three years or more experience in the field of resource development and/or planning.
Commitment to the Church with a clear understanding of its mission and structure.
Knowledge in research, marketing, planning administration and communications.
Knowledge and experience of non-profit organizations.
Excellent communication skills (Bilingual – English and Spanish)
Excellent telephone etiquette
Organized and able to meet deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and reach desired results
Job Elements:
Determines the planning and resource development needs of the Diocese including short and long range demographic studies, short term and long term planning goals, and capital improvement forecasting to respond to specific growth characteristics and population needs of the Diocese.
Develops and directs the annual appeal and all related aspects; this includes doing the research for demographics.
Develops a program to increase donations/giving to the Diocese, cultivates relationships with major donor prospects throughout the Diocese.
Develops potential grant sources.
Provides consultation and assistance for parishes undergoing capital campaigns, including an annual follow up to determine success of parish efforts.
Conducts studies to evaluate potential growth for additional parishes/missions.
Assists in the defining or re-defining parish boundaries.
Assists with the development of a diocesan map and deanery maps.
Responsible for all administration functions and management of this office, including budget preparation.
Provides support to the Catholic Foundation on special projects such as the Bishop’s dinner and other fund raising activities.
Collaborates with diocesan grant writer
