Diocese plans celebration for 50th Anniversary of Charismatic Movement

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement.

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal is the largest approved ecclesial movement of the Catholic Church and it is estimated to have reached at least 120 million Catholics throughout the world. The movement is fully Catholic and also fully charismatic, with emphasis on a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus and the charisms and gifts of the Holy Spirit as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12, including the gift of tongues, healing and prophecy.

There will be a diocesan celebration on Pentecost Sunday to bring all Parish Charismatic groups together from throughout the diocese ending with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass celebrated by Bishop Daniel E. Flores, June 4 at 5:30 p.m. The diocesan event begins at 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Weslaco East High School,  810 S. Pleasantview Dr. in Weslaco. 

All priests and deacons are invited to concelebrate, please bring red stole.
