In Memoriam Fr. Eugene Cañas, OMI

October 10, 2023Our deepest sympathies and prayers to the Cañas Family on the passing of Rev. Eugene Cañas, OMI, native of San Benito, Texas.
Fr. Canas was a member of the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, served in Rome on the General Council of the Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate, and rector when the present Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle National Shrine was built.
His family will have a Memorial Mass, celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Mario A. Avilés at Saint Theresa Catholic Church on Saturday, October 28 at 10 a.m.
