Compassionate and healing God, help us to see your face.
In the faces of our sisters and brothers who are sick or injured.
Guide us to reach out to them with hearts of compassion.
And hands that serve their needs.
When they are anxious,
Help us to know how to reassure them.
When they feel alone,
Help us to notice and be present.
When they feel confused, help us to listen and assist.
In finding answers to their concerns.
When they need comfort, help us to communicate care and understanding.
When they are weak or discouraged, help us find ways to refresh their spirits. When doubt or darkness touches them, give your Light to guide them.
And lift them up.
Help us as caregivers to always turn to You as the source.
Of our own strength and compassion as we seek to serve the needs of
our sisters and brothers who are vulnerable.
Inspired by and adapted from the Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your healing:
When there is disappointment in a test or procedure, make me into a comfort;
Where there is confusion about a diagnosis or treatment, make me into clarity;
Where there is an illness of any kind, make me into care and comfort;
Where there is anguish in death, make me into hope;
Where there is joy in new life, let me be a multiplier of that joy;
O Great Physician, grant that I may not so much seek.
To be served as to serve
To be praised as to praise
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in healing that we are healed,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
Remember, O most gracious
Virgin Mary, that never was it
known that anyone who fled to
thy protection, implored thy help,
or sought thy intercession was
left unaided. Inspired with this
confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin
of virgins, my Mother; to thee do
I come; before thee I stand, sinful
and sorrowful. O Mother of the
Word Incarnate, despite not my
petitions, but in thy mercy hear
and answer me. Amen.
Jesus, as I draw near to you, hear my prayer.
My eyes may be closed,
I may not be able to speak with my voice,
But this prayer is deep within me.
My life is near its end,
My body has provided me with what I’ve needed.
And it’s time to leave it and let it go.
But those around me are not so easy to let go.
It is through them that I have seen your face,
And experienced your presence.
It is through them that I’ve learned to give and love,
And become more like You.
It is with them I have borne many difficulties and suffering,
And become more like you.
It is with them that I have so many cherished memories,
Timeless, true, and holy.
I have been their guardian and protector.
I worry about them and the world I leave.
How can I let them go?
But in my heart, I know it’s time,
I have done my best, and have given all I’ve had.
Surrender I will,
To You, who draws me closer.
Trusting, I will let go, of those I love.
Because I know,
You will care for them,
As you did for me, until you call them home,
With us.
To the One who has saved me and set me free.
It is You and Your radiant light I see,
Without my eyes, drawing me closer.
Jesus, take my hand and lead me home.
Prayers in Times of Illness
Heavenly Father,
On this World Day of the Sick, we gather in prayer to lift up those who are unwell, to surround them with your love, and to seek your healing touch. We remember all those who are battling sickness and facing physical or emotional pain.
In your infinite mercy, we entrust these beloved souls to your care. Grant them strength and courage in their time of need. May they find comfort in your presence and peace in the midst of their suffering. We ask for your healing grace to touch their bodies, minds, and spirits, restoring them to health.
Loving and merciful God, we implore you to look kindly upon Your Servant, Pope Francis. Touch him with your compassion and consolation. Restore his health and renew his strength in mind, body, and spirit. Surround him with your peace and the support of the prayers of your holy people. We place Pope Francis in your healing love through the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who take care of him. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y el Espíritu Santo (+). Amén.
Padre Nuestro.
Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo, santificado sea tu nombre;
venga a nosotros tu reino;
hágase tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día;
y perdona nuestras ofensas

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our Father.
Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Prayer for Spiritual Communion by St. Fr. Pio
My Jesus, I believe that you are truly
present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things and I desire to Possess You within my soul.
Since I am unable at this moment to Receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there, and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
