'Radiant Joy' Youth Encounters (February 2024)

Get ready to embrace the "radiant joy" of Jesus and his Church in the upcoming Youth Eucharistic Encounters in February 2024!

Event Dates and Locations:

Middle School (grades 6 to 8) - Saturday, February 10

• St. Anthony Catholic Church (Harlingen)
• 9 AM to 6 PM; 5PM Mass with Bishop Mario Aviles (parents welcome)
• Featuring Brian Lennox as keynote speaker
  • Brian Lennox is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has spent over 20 years serving the young church at retreats, conferences, and other events in youth ministry. He currently serves as the Director of Faith Formation at St. Faustina in Fulshear, Texas, and holds a Master’s Degree in Faith and Culture from St. Thomas University. Above all, he's a proud husband to his college sweetheart, Jennifer, and a father to his five children. You can find Brian with his family at the ball fields, scout campouts, or dance recitals when not serving at Church.

High School (grades 9 to 12) - Saturday, February 24

• Weslaco East High School (Weslaco)
• 9 AM to 5 PM; 4 PM Mass with Bishop Mario Aviles (parents welcome)
• Featuring Fr. Agustino 'Tino' Torres as keynote speaker
  • About the Keynote: Father Agustino Torres, CFR, is a priest with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal based in the Bronx, New York. He is the founder of Corazon Puro, an organization dedicated to forming youth. He hosts the EWTN television shows Icons and Clic con Corazon Puro in Spanish. Father Agustino was one of the friars who founded Catholic Underground, an apostolate of the Friars of the Renewal, and the Casa Guadalupe (women) and JPII (men) houses of discernment. He is internationally sought to address topics such as the Church’s teachings about human sexuality, vocational discernment, and missionary discipleship.

Registration Information:

• Cost: $25 per person. Includes T-shirt and meals.
• Registration: We are accepting registrations from parish groups only. We are not accepting individual registrations. Adults need to have completed their safe environment training (i.e., Protecting God's Children) before this event.
• Permission Slips: Permission/consent forms are required and available for download below.  Each youth and adult participating in the event must provide a completed and signed form. 

What to Expect: Our Youth Eucharistic Encounters promise a day filled with faith, fun, and fellowship. Participants will engage in meaningful activities, discussions, and prayer, all centered around the Eucharist. It's an opportunity for young hearts to deepen their connection with God.
